What is Metagrid?
Metagrid is a Shopify admin app that lets you view and bulk edit product metafields in a spreadsheet-style grid. You can filter products, work with metafield definitions, and update many products at once instead of editing them one by one in Shopify Admin.
How do I install and open the app?
Install Metagrid from the Shopify App Store, then open it from the Apps menu in your Shopify admin. Metagrid runs inside Shopify Admin and does not require a separate login.
What data can Metagrid edit?
Metagrid reads and writes product metafields through the Shopify Admin API. You can work with metafields tied to Shopify definitions, filter by namespace and type, and apply bulk updates across your catalog. Product and metafield data is accessed during your session; Metagrid does not store a separate copy of your catalog.
What are the plan limits?
Metagrid offers Free, Basic, and Enterprise plans:
- Free ($0) — up to 5 products per selection, up to 50 metafield updates per day, and in-app gap filters for missing and unstructured fields.
- Basic ($9.99/month) — unlimited selections, up to 1,000 updates per day, one-click Undo, and a weekly metafield health report by email.
- Enterprise ($24.99/month) — unlimited daily operations, weekly metafield health report by email, and priority developer support for high-volume catalogs.
Upgrade or downgrade anytime from Manage plan inside the app. Billing is handled through Shopify's Billing API on your regular Shopify invoice.
Can I undo bulk edits?
Yes, on Basic and Enterprise plans. After a bulk save, use the Undo button in Metagrid to revert the most recent batch of changes. Undo is not available on the Free plan.
Does Metagrid affect my storefront or customers?
Metagrid is a backend admin tool only. It does not add scripts or cookies to your storefront, and it does not collect personal information from your store's customers. Changes you make to metafields follow the same rules as edits made directly in Shopify Admin—they appear on your storefront only if your theme or apps use those metafields.
What happens to my data if I uninstall the app?
When you uninstall Metagrid, we delete your shop's session data promptly. Any remaining shop-scoped records (such as usage logs) are removed within 48 hours, in line with Shopify's data erasure requirements. Your product metafields remain in Shopify; uninstalling the app does not delete your catalog data.
Do you store customer personal information?
No. Metagrid stores only shop-scoped operational data needed to run the app (such as sessions, daily usage counts, and billing-related records). For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
